My Ignorance!

Ignorance is what has always turned me astray,
Brave thoughts have no place to stay,
When the desires rise to the zeal.
I become greed, and then come what may.
I go to the pundits seeking truth,
And to the masjids professing my ruth,
Gypsies welcome with their whizzing words,
But I have no strength to learn what’s said.
I go on lurching in disdain instead.
I learn the books of science, must.
I learn the laws for breach of trust.
I learn the fairytales that are ancient and old.
But I do not find that place where the truth is sold.
Sacredness that once was my friend,
Fades away within me with the changing trends,
Failing to find the righteous path,
Reining low this belligerent wrath,
Reckoning myself where I have turned?
On which path my faith has tumbled and burned?
No excuse would I have for that day.
As I was the one myself making the way.
Ignorance is what has turned me astray.
